Eat & Drink & Be Merry
The Carriage House is such a wonderful option when you're in Albany in large part because of the many food and drink choices within walking distance. If walking about, the Lark St. corridor is only a 4-block stroll along verdant Washington Park on historic State St. Although it's always sunny in Albany, if the weather turns inclement there are many dining and drinking options in downtown or on Delaware Ave. only 5 minutes by auto.
The City of Albany has a rich history dating back more than 400 years. As the capital of New York since 1797, Albany and the surrounding region offer a treasure trove of art, architecture, museums and historical sites. You can start in historic Washington Park just outside your front door or at the city visitor's center or the State Museum and go from there. Within an hour's drive there are too many options to list, but the nation's largest state park, Saratoga Springs and funky Troy, New York, as well as gorgeous lakes, rivers, streams and mountains provide hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and leaf-peeping opportunities galore. New York City, Boston and Montreal are all within a 3-hour drive or train ride.
